How to watch Iron Bowl on TV, live stream

It’s Rivalry Week and the Iron Bowl is ready.

Alabama football will host the Auburn Tigers at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on Saturday, November 26, 2022.

The Tide (9-2, 5-2 SEC) is snapping back-to-back wins against Ole Miss and Austin Peay. Alabama suffered two SEC losses this season, against Tennessee and LSU.

The Tigers (5-6, 2-5 SEC) are also hitting back-to-back wins against Texas A&M and Western Kentucky. It’s only the second time this season that the Tigers have won two games in a row, after suffering five straight midseason losses.

Why is it called The Iron Bowl?

The University of Alabama’s meeting with Auburn dates back to 1893, when Auburn was still known as Agricultural and Mechanical College. Back then, the match was played on a neutral ground in Birmingham.

But the game was only given its nickname much later.

In 1980, Auburn coach Ralph “Shug” Jordan coined the name “Iron Bowl” due to the importance of the steel industry in Birmingham, but Alabama’s Paul “Bear” Bryant liked to call it the “Brag Bowl” after the winner fans got to gloat all year long.
